Town Centre Consultation Today 17th December! 3-7pm GPCC

This is a consultation by the consortium about their planning application for the town centre.  The plans will be available to see and consortium representatives can be quizzed.  It is an extension of Project Manager David Abercrombie's drop in session which is still on between 1 and 3pm. If you can't make it today because of short notice or pre Christmas commitments, you can still contact David with comments/queries at the project office.  For clarity, this is not a local authority planning consultation, but will be used to support the application process.

Scottish Test Case re service charges

The verdict is just out and the home owner won!!  We don't have enough detail yet to know how the UK wide laws were interpreted in the arguments, but it is a great start!!
The tribunal found that their burdens (roughly equivalent to the covenants in our transfer deeds) were not real or enforceable.
No doubt the land management company will appeal.

20mph Speed Limit on Roseden Way

20mphThe traffic regulations are now in force and the speed limit on Roseden Way is a mandatory 20mph!

The new crossing point is much more visible (except in the dark) - hopefully it will be lit at some point!

Play Park Partial Closure

There is an item on their web site but it adds little information.  There should be notices up at the park indicating the relevant pieces of equipment.

Road Safety - Near Miss first day of term

Fortunately no one was injured, but due to good luck, not good management.  Apparently two boys on scooters had a near miss with a car which failed to stop at the temporary crossing.  Your committee have been campaigning for beefing up the crossing with the addition of a speed bump as a temporary measure to increase safety for pedestrians for well over a year.  Following this latest incident at least one member has written to our MP (again).  It seems to be a sad fact that someone will have to be killed or injured before any effective action is taken.
